Mino Obigiwasin Anicinabe Child and Family services was set up to provide child and families services to the Anicinape population. This follows an agreement signed with CISSSAT to manage youth protection for the Anicinape communities of Abitibiwinni (Pikogan). Mino Obigiwasin's vision is to provide all Anicinape children and families with a stable, safe, happy and culturally rooted living environment.
Under the authority of the Coordinator of Family-Type Resources for designated communities, the Anicinape RTF worker is mandated to support families in their role with children.
They ensure that services are provided in accordance with an approach and communication style that is specific to Anicinape culture (language, vocabulary, intonation, silences, non-verbal communication, relationship to time, etc.). To this end, they possess a good understanding of the individuals, families, and the functioning of the community. The worker also acts as a cultural resource person: they value and respect Anicinape knowledge and practices, contribute to their understanding and integration into interventions, raise awareness among internal and external partners about the Anicinape way of life, and actively participate in the protection and promotion of cultural heritage.
Work collaboratively with RTF workers to:
Participate in the development of activities for foster families, training, recruitment, and assist in group facilitation (may require working evenings and weekends).
