Mino Obigiwasin Anicinape Child & Family Services is a non-profit corporation founded on July 4, 2019, by four Anicinape communities (Kitcisakik, Pikogan, Long Point and Lac-Simon). The organization provides services for children and families, including youth protection services, to ensure the preservation of these children’s and families’ cultural identity and dignity. Mino Obigiwasin is governed by its own by-laws and policies that guide all of its activities.

POSITION SUMMARY

In alignment with the mission, orientations, values, and policies of Mino Obigiwasin Anicinape Child and Family Services, the incumbent acts as the strategic right hand to the Executive Director. They coordinate administrative functions and ensure alignment, consistency, and performance across departments (finance, human resources, projects, training, communications, and information technology).

Serving as a key link between the Executive Director and managers, they oversee the follow-up of organizational priorities, decisions, and action plans. They contribute to the smooth flow of operations and support the achievement of organizational objectives by promoting effective and integrated management of activities.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In collaboration with and under the authority of the Executive Director, the person in this role assumes the following responsibilities:

• Ensure strategic coordination: support the Executive Director, conduct analyses, make recommendations, and provide backup when needed;

• Ensure alignment across departments: maintain consistency in practices, monitor issues, and foster interdepartmental collaboration;

• Ensure performance and operational follow-up: establish indicators, maintain dashboards, ensure deadlines are met, and support reporting to the Board of Directors;

• Support organizational structuring: improve processes, standardize practices, and manage change;

• Support managers: provide guidance, resolve issues, and mobilize teams;

• Manage priorities: track critical files and align resources;

• Supervise and support the administrative functions under their responsibility in addressing questions and applying policies and procedures;

• Monitor the progress of action plans and support departments in innovating their practices;

• Implement the strategic plan;

• Understand funding agreements and participate in budget follow-ups;

• Participate in strategic committees and working groups to support organizational development;

• In collaboration with the Executive Director, support the development and engagement of all human resources and help maintain a healthy work environment;

• Perform any other tasks required for the position and the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (administration, social sciences) or 10 years of experience in the child and family services field;

• 3 to 5 years of management experience;

• Experience working with First Nations;

• Bilingual (English and French);

• Be familiar with federal and provincial programs dedicated to Indigenous peoples;

• Knowledge of the following is considered an asset:

  1. Youth Protection Act
  2. Adoption and guardianship
  3. Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Act respecting health services and social services (ARHSSS)
  4. Principles and application of Bill C-92 (S.C. 2019, c. 24)

• Demonstrate influential leadership;

• Demonstrate strong interpersonal and strategic communication skills;

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Permanent full-time position, 35 hours per week;

• Comprehensive benefits package, including group insurance with employer contribution after 3 months, and a pension plan (RBA) after 6 months with an employer contribution of 182%;
