DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

Anicinape Mino Obigiwasin Child & Family Services is a non-profit organization established on July 4, 2019, by four Anicinape communities (Kitcisakik, Pikogan, Long Point, and Lac-Simon). It provides child and family services, specifically in youth protection, with the goal of preserving the cultural identity and dignity of these children and families. Mino Obigiwasin operates under its own set of bylaws and policies that govern its affairs.

POSITION SUMMARY

In alignment with the mission, strategic directions, values, and general policies of Mino Obigiwasin Anicinape Child and Family Services, the Director of Development, under the supervision of the Executive Director, is responsible for advancing Anicinape child and family service practices in a manner that ensures cultural safety and meets the needs of the member communities. The Director plays an integral role in organizational strategies, the development and implementation of Bill C-92, workforce training programs, practice improvement initiatives, and the management of client dissatisfaction.

ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • Supervise the coordination teams for Bill C-92, Indigenous development services, Professional Clinical Practice Development and Support Officers (ADSP), and Information and Facilitation Officers (AIF)
  • Ensure the promotion of children's and youth's needs, the defense of their rights, and the preservation of ties with Anicinape families
  • Oversee the development and implementation of practice guides and clinical tools rooted in Anicinape culture and realities
  • Participate in working committees and consultation tables for the advancement of the Anicinape law
  • Identify and resolve issues and challenges within the departments under their responsibility through participation in the organization’s strategic management committees, and contribute to the continuous improvement of organizational management
  • Propose innovative management approaches aligned with the evolving practices in Anicinape child and family services
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the organization’s development
  • Collaborate with the executive team in managing the department’s budget and ensure expenditure control, while effectively and efficiently managing human and material resources, with a focus on continuous quality improvement of services
  • Travel regularly to the communities
  • Perform any other duties required for the position.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold a university degree in social sciences or have at least 10 years of experience in the field of child and family services
  • Have experience working with Indigenous communities
  • Be bilingual (French and English)
  • Possess strong theoretical and practical knowledge of the following:
    • Youth Protection Act
    • Adoption and guardianship
    • Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Act Respecting Health and Social Services (LSSSS)
    • Principles and implementation of Bill C-92 (ch. 24 SC)

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

  • Permanent full-time position (35 hours per week)
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including group insurance with employer contribution after 3 months and pension plan (RBA) after 6 months with employer contribution at 182%
