Mino Obigiwasin is an Anicinabe organization established to provide child, family, and community services following an agreement signed with the CISSSAT regarding youth protection management for the four Anicinape communities: Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Pikogan (Abitibiwinni), and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin’s vision is to ensure that all children and families have a stable, safe, and happy living environment rooted in Anicinape culture.
RESPONSABILITIES
In alignment with the mission, strategic directions, values, and general policies of Mino Obigiwasin Anicinape Child and Family Services, and under the supervision of the Director of Development, the AIF Coordinator is responsible for coordinating child and family services. The goal is to engage children, their parents or legal guardians, and community resources in developing solutions to the challenges they face, while establishing or following the objectives of their service in accordance with Mino Obigiwasin’s strategic directions, values, and service mission.
Roles and Responsibilities of the AIF Coordinator:
- Supervise Information and Facilitation Officers (AIF) in accordance with current policies
- Act as a resource person for AIFs and provide timely and effective support in their efforts
- Oversee the management and development of the Wawiya process
- Coordinate the promotion of services offered to the population and sectors, ensuring respect for the rights and preservation of Anicinapewin (Anicinape integrity) of children and families
- In collaboration with AIFs, design, promote, and distribute guides and tools to raise awareness of the rights of various stakeholders involved in the Youth Protection Act (YPA) process
- Supervise and, when necessary, handle requests related to client dissatisfaction
- Lead various committees and AIF team meetings
- Collaborate with the AIF team on awareness activities with frontline and community services, as needed
- Work with the development team on matters related to the evolution of Bill C-92
- Draft collaboration protocols with complaint-handling bodies
- Develop and disseminate policies, standards, and procedures specific to the service
- Be willing to travel regularly to the communities
- Ensure the relevance and consistency of internal and external communications related to the service
- Perform other related duties.
REQUIREMENTS
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in human sciences or social work
- Have 10 years of experience in the field of child and family services
- Be Indigenous or have at least 5 years of experience working with Indigenous communities
- Be bilingual (English and French)
- Possessing theoretical and practical knowledge of the following is considered an asset:
- Youth Protection Act
- Adoption and guardianship
- Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Act Respecting Health and Social Services (LSSSS)
- Principles and implementation of Bill C-92 (ch. 24 SC).
