Mino Obigiwasin Anicinape Child and Family Services was established to provide child and family services to its population. This follows an agreement signed with the CISSSAT for the management of youth protection services for the four Anicinape communities: Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Abitibiwinni (Pikogan), and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin’s vision is to ensure that all Anicinape children and families have a stable, safe, joyful living environment rooted in their culture.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Clinical Director and in collaboration with the Executive Director, the Coordinator of Indigenous Service Development is responsible for ensuring the involvement of Indigenous employees in the organization’s development, the C-92 legislative project, and the transition toward integrating Anicinape approaches into workplace practices. The coordinator is also responsible for observing, analyzing, and proposing improvements to better meet the needs of Indigenous people in the delivery of child and family services by Mino Obigiwasin.
ROLES AND RESPONSABILITIES
- Assess Indigenous services and propose culturally safe improvements
- Contribute to the development of Mino Obigiwasin and the C-92 legislative initiative
- Promote the involvement of Indigenous people in services and develop support plans
- Participate in the transition of services under C-92
- Develop a training program for Anicinape staff
- Advise the team on best cultural and community practices
- Foster cultural competency throughout the organization
- Participate in working committees
- Build relationships with Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Develop practical tools and resources
- Contribute to the training of Anicinape practitioners
- Facilitate connections between students and mentors
- Support both new and existing employees in adopting culturally safe approaches for children and families
- Participate in the development and support of internal programs
- Design, review, and propose improvements to current practices.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychoeducation, or equivalent
- Relevant experience in youth protection intervention
- Knowledge and experience working with First Nations communities
- Class 5 driver’s license
- Being a current employee of Mino Obigiwasin is a strong asset.
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
- Permanent full-time position, 35 hours per week
