C-92 Coordinator

Mino Obigiwasin, child and families Anicinape services was set up to provide child and family services to the Anicinape population. This follows an agreement signed with CISSSAT to manage youth protection for the 4 Anicinape communities: Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Abitibiwinni (Pikogan) and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin's vision is to provide all Anicinape children and families with a stable, safe, happy and culturally rooted living environment.

POSITION SUMMARY

In keeping with the mission, orientations, values and general policies of Mino Obigiwasin Child and Family Services Anicinape, and under the authority of the Executive Director, the incumbent coordinates the Anicinape work team and provides advisory support to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, with a view to enabling the four communities within Mino Obigiwasin to adopt an Anicinape law and exercise their jurisdiction in matters of child and family services.

ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • Coordinate the implementation of the C-92 project: research, consultations, detailed plan, implementation steps, action plan follow-up, working committees, round tables, drafting of legislation, adaptation of concepts, etc.;
  • Work with clinical management and the clinical team to ensure implementation of C-92's minimum standards, while considering current legislation (YPA).
  • Propose clinical structures that meet the needs of Anicinape children and families with the working committees.
  • Coordinate lawyers for the legal aspect of the project (advice, audit, communications with state agencies, political and legal situation related to the challenge, negotiation of the coordination agreement, etc.).
  • Act as a link between clinical and legal development and ensure the progress of the bill.
  • Make presentations to Mino Obigiwasin's work teams and departments on the progress of the project and progressive changes.
  • Be involved in the drafting and submission of consultation summaries, protocols and results reports.
  • Supervise the work team to carry out the project according to objectives.
  • Act as liaison between field work on the C-92 project and the Mino Obigiwasin Board of Directors.
  • Prepare the implementation of the Anicinape Law.
  • Carry out any other tasks required for the position.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Undergraduate degree (Bachelor's) in social work, law, special education, criminology or other relevant academic discipline.
  • A graduate degree (Master's) in law, humanities, native studies or another relevant field is an asset.
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a researcher, research officer or research professional in one of the following fields: social work, law, special education, criminology or other appropriate academic discipline.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is essential.
  • Good knowledge of research methodology in Aboriginal environments.
  • Good knowledge of child and family services in Aboriginal contexts.
  • A good understanding of the health and social services sector, its administration and legal framework.
  • Proficiency in the Office suite.
  • Excellent writing, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to popularize complex concepts.
  • Adaptability, flexibility and open-mindedness.
  • Ability to handle several files and/or projects at once.
  • Cultural awareness.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Permanent full-time position, 35 hours per week.
