Anicinape Child & Family Services Mino Obigiwasin is a non-profit organization founded on July 4, 2019, by four Anicinape communities (Kitcisakik, Pikogan, Long Point, and Lac-Simon). It provides child and family services, specifically in youth protection, with the goal of preserving the cultural identity and dignity of these children and families. Mino Obigiwasin operates under its own bylaws and policies governing its affairs.
POSITION SUMMARY
In alignment with the mission, orientations, values, and general policies of Mino Obigiwasin Child and Family Services Anicinape, the Anicinape Clinical Advisor PDSA, under the supervision of the PDSA-IFA Coordinator, is responsible for evaluating, questioning, improving, and aligning clinical practices and programs related to the development of Anicinape-Inakonigewin (Bill C-92 project). The goal is to provide quality services that reflect Anicinape values, preserve Anicinape identity, and meet the needs of children and their parents, while respecting their rights and responsibilities.
ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES
- Support and assist practitioners in clinical interventions using concrete tools that emphasize cultural safety
- Participate in the development of Anicinape Inakonigewin and ensure harmonization of changes in practices, evaluate tools, training needs, and processes
- Contribute to the evaluation of all clinical, administrative, and legal processes to ensure the delivery of quality services that reflect Anicinape values, preserve Anicinape identity, and meet the needs of children and their parents, while respecting their rights and responsibilities
- Identify, revise, or design tools relevant to the Anicinape way
- Conduct research activities necessary to identify resources required to meet clinical needs and provide guidance on the implementation, establishment, or improvement of programs and/or services
- Organize conferences with Anicinape practitioners and/or Elders and/or Indigenous educators, and create and deliver training related to child and family services to staff members and communities
- Collaborate as needed in complaint processes related to service quality
- Perform any other tasks required by the position and the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in psychoeducation, social work, or another university-level education in social sciences or equivalent
- Be familiar with clinical tools in youth protection and prevention programs; à
- Have solid knowledge of Anicinape culture
- Demonstrate pedagogical skills and abilities
- Have strong clinical knowledge of child development, challenges faced by children, adolescents, and their families, as well as the issues, challenges, and strengths present in communities
- Have at least 5 years of experience in the psychosocial field
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Be able to always maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Be open-minded and possess strong interpersonal skills
- Promote change and demonstrate good risk management
- Have strong adaptability and stress management skills
- Be dynamic and enjoy teamwork
- Be methodical, structured, and thorough.
