Anicinape Mino Obigiwasin Child & Family Services is a non-profit organization established on July 4, 2019, by four Anicinape communities (Kitcisakik, Pikogan, Long Point, and Lac-Simon). It provides child and family services, specifically in youth protection, with the goal of preserving the cultural identity and dignity of these children and families. Mino Obigiwasin operates under its own set of bylaws and policies governing its affairs.
JOB SUMMARY
n alignment with the mission, strategic directions, values, and general policies of Mino Obigiwasin Anicinape Child and Family Services, the Deputy general director supports the General Director in managing the organization and its day-to-day operations to ensure the fulfillment of Mino Obigiwasin’s mission and objectives. The Assistant Executive Director is also expected to act on behalf of the Executive Director in their absence and to represent them as needed.
ROLES AND RESPONSABILITIES
- In collaboration with and under the authority of the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager is responsible for
- Replace and represent the General Manager when required.
- Supervise and manage the overall operations of MINO OBIGIWASIN's various services, programs and resources in accordance with directives, policies and guidelines, except for the clinical component, C-92 and AIF.
- Supervise and support the team under his/her responsibility in their questioning and application of policies and procedures.
- Report weekly to senior management on the follow-up of files in the departments under his/her responsibility.
- Ensure the evolution of action plans and help managers innovate their practices.
- Implement the strategic plan.
- Understand funding agreements with Service Autochtone Canada and participate in budget monitoring.
- Participate in strategic committees and working groups to develop the organization.
- In collaboration with the General Manager, ensures the development and mobilization of all human resources and the maintenance of a healthy work climate.
- Any other task required by the position and the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- University degree in administration or 10 years of management experience.
- Experience working with First Nations or in the field of child and family services.
- Knowledge of the history of Aboriginal peoples.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial programs dedicated to Aboriginal people.
- Bilingualism (English and French);
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of the following is an asset:
- Youth Protection Act
- Adoption and guardianship
- Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Act respecting health services and social services (LSSSS)
- Principles and application of C-92 (ch.24 LC).
