Mental health worker

Mino Obigiwasin Anicinabe Child and Family services was set up to provide child and families services to the Anicinape population. This follows an agreement signed with CISSSAT to manage youth protection for the 4 Anicinape communities: Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Abitibiwinni (Pikogan) and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin's vision is to provide all Anicinape children and families with a stable, safe, happy and culturally rooted living environment.

POST SUMMARY

In keeping with the mission, orientations, values and general policies of Mino Obigiwasin, Anicinape child and , the incumbent is responsible for the education and rehabilitation of users according to the intervention programs established in collaboration with the team of professionals in place, with a view to the individual's rehabilitation and/or reintegration. He/she applies educational techniques using everyday activities, organizing, coordinating and leading program activities to ensure the learning and acquisition of appropriate attitudes and behaviors..

ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES

Help people with adjustment difficulties and/or behavioral problems;

  • Observe, evaluate and analyze young people's behaviors in their daily activities, with a view to identifying their needs and abilities;
  • Implement means of intervention in collaboration with the family and other caregivers;
  • Intervene with users in the context of conflictual and difficult family relationships;
  • Record their progress by drafting the appropriate documents, and provide programming for these activities;
  • Develop, monitor and update intervention plans;
  • Collaborate in the application of measures in accordance with the provisions of the YPA, in partnership with the social worker in charge of the case;
  • Collaborate with health-care workers (mental health, 1st line) in emergency and crisis situations;
  • Participate in the development and improvement of services provided by the team;
  • Participate in the development and improvement of the services provided by his/her team; Follow the training required for the continuous improvement of his/her practice.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in psycho-education, social work or other university training in social sciences or equivalent;

  • Have relevant experience in the treatment and accompaniment of various problems: bereavement, break-ups, family crisis, relationship difficulties, drug addiction and treatment of various traumas following sexual abuse, witnesses of various types of violence and victims of serious neglect);
  • Knowledge and experience in the First Nations environment is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the YPA and Bill C-92;
  • Be able to promote cultural safety and consider cultural issues and community values.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Permanent full-time position, 35 hours per week;
