EO ANICINAPE WORKER

Mino Obigiwasin Anicinabe Child and Family services was set up to provide child and families services to the Anicinape population. This follows an agreement signed with CISSSAT to manage youth protection for the 4 Anicinape communities: Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Abitibiwinni (Pikogan) and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin's vision is to provide all Anicinape children and families with a stable, safe, happy and culturally rooted living environment.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the authority of the regional Assessment, Guidance and Complementary Field Verifications service point manager, the Anicinape support worker will assist social workers in assessing the child's situation and living conditions.

Under the authority of the regional Assessment-Orientation and VCT service point manager, and as part of the responsibilities conferred upon him by the Director of Youth Protection (DPJ), the Anicinape intervener will be called upon, based on the analysis of all risk and protection factors, to participate in decisions as to whether or not the security and development of children within the meaning of the paragraphs of the YPA have been compromised, and in the review of files.

The Anicinape counsellor ensures that services are provided using an Anicinape approach and mode of communication (language, vocabulary, intonations, silences, non-verbals, time, etc.). He/she must have a knowledge of people, families and community functioning. He respects and seeks to understand the culture. He shares and sensitizes internal/external agents to the Anicinape way of life. He protects their cultural heritage.

ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES

  • Participate in the evaluation of the child's situation based on a verification of reported facts;
  • Participate in the analysis of the child's situation in terms of his vulnerability, the capacity of his parents and that of his environment;
  • Participate in all clinical decisions related to the child's referral;
  • Participate in file review;
  • Work with social workers to:
  • Offer culturally secure services to parents and children;
  • Sensitize social workers to Anicinape realities, family functioning, community, seasons, etc..;
  • Accompany children and parents on supervised visits..
  • Act as a caregiver and provide assistance to users moving to a new environment or turning 18;
  • Informs and listens to parents and children experiencing difficulties in collaboration with the information officer and facilitator, as needed;
  • Provides process support;
  • Interpret at meetings when required;
  • Assess young children's development, as needed;
  • Accompany caregivers in assessment and orientation in field interventions;
  • Teach colleagues about Anicinape culture.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be from the Anicinape community;
  • Hold a class 5 driver's license.

  • Permanent full-time position, 35 hours per week;
