Mino Obigiwasin Anicinape Child and Family Services was established to provide child and family services to its community. This follows an agreement signed with CISSSAT to manage youth protection services for the four Anicinape communities: Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Abitibiwinni (Pikogan), and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin’s vision is to ensure that all Anicinape children and families have a stable, safe, and happy living environment that is rooted in their culture.

JOB SUMMARY

In accordance with the mission, guidelines, values, and general policies of Mino Obigiwasin Services Enfance et Famille Anicinape, the incumbent works with children and adolescents who are under the care of the Youth Protection Act and who exhibit serious behavioral disorders. Drawing on their clinical expertise, they support youth exhibiting persistent, complex, or severe behaviors that jeopardize their safety, development, or ability to maintain a stable living environment. In collaboration with caseworkers, families, and partners, the incumbent implements specialized educational interventions and helps develop tailored strategies that promote the young person’s development, build their capacities, and maintain their meaningful relationships, using a trauma-informed and culturally safe approach.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Rehabilitation Services Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for:

• Serving as a resource person on serious behavioral disorders for caseworkers and partners;
• Observing, assessing, and analyzing the behaviors of youth to identify their needs and recommend appropriate intervention strategies;
• Plan, implement, and monitor specialized educational interventions aimed at fostering the development of social, interpersonal, and self-regulation skills;
• Develop, implement, and monitor intervention plans in collaboration with youth, families, caseworkers, and partners;
• Support parents, foster families, and other care settings in applying strategies that promote the stability and development of the child or youth;
• Intervene in crisis situations, assess risks, and help implement safety measures when required;
• Collaborate with caseworkers and network partners to ensure continuity of services;
• Prepare progress notes, reports, assessments, and any other required documentation in accordance with current standards;
• Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the organization’s practices and services;
• Keep your knowledge up to date by participating in training and professional development activities.

REQUIREMENTS

College diploma in Special Education;

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, an asset;
• At least three (3) years of experience working with youth with severe behavioral disorders or complex needs;
• Experience in child protection, an asset;
• Experience working with First Nations communities, an asset;
• Valid driver’s license (Class 5);
• OMÉGA, CPI, or other crisis intervention training—an asset;
• Bilingualism (French and English)—an asset;

Ability to promote cultural safety and consider the realities and values of First Nations communities.
