Mino Obigiwasin Anicinape Child and Family Services was established to provide child and family services to its community. This follows an agreement signed with CISSSAT to manage youth protection services for the four Anicinape communities: Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Abitibiwinni (Pikogan), and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin’s vision is to ensure that all Anicinape children and families have a stable, safe, and happy living environment that is rooted in their culture.
JOB SUMMARY
In accordance with the mission, guidelines, values, and general policies of Mino Obigiwasin Services Enfance et Famille Anicinape, the Social Worker Assistant, under the supervision of the responsible of point of service for Winneway, contributes to the intervention plans for clients. He provides direct or indirect support to clients in accordance with the objectives defined by the assigned social worker. He performs the clinical and administrative tasks related to his duties. He may be called upon to substitute for a social worker during that person’s leave to provide follow-up as a community-based educational assistant for the implementation of the rehabilitation action plan.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the team in their cases and follow up as needed;
- Assist individuals with adjustment difficulties and/or behavioral disorders;
- Participate in developing intervention strategies in collaboration with the family and other professionals;
- Lead or co-lead rehabilitative activities and evaluate their outcomes;
- Intervene with clients in situations involving conflictual and difficult family relationships;
- Document clients’ progress by completing the appropriate forms and provide activity schedules;
- Collaborate on the development of intervention plans, ensure their follow-up, and propose updates when required;
- Collaborate on the implementation of measures in accordance with the provisions of the LPJ in partnership with the assigned social worker;
- Collaborate with Health Center staff (mental health, primary care) during emergency or crisis interventions;
- Participate in the development and improvement of the services provided by your team;
- Perform any other related duties.
REQUIREMENTS
- Hold an AEC or DEC (in progress), or have completed at least one year of DEC coursework or 30 credits toward a BAC in a recognized field;
- Relevant experience in youth protection or a related field;
- Knowledge of and experience working in First Nations communities is a plus;
- Class 5 driver’s license;
- Ability to always maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion;
- Open-mindedness and strong interpersonal skills;
- Be a change agent and demonstrate strong risk management skills;
- Be adaptable and able to manage stress effectively;
- Be dynamic and enjoy working as part of a team;
- Be methodical, organized, and thorough;
- Must speak English;
- Priority to the members of Winneway.

- Full-time temporary position, 35 hours per week;
