Mino Obigiwasin Anicinape Child and Family Services was established to provide child and family services to its population. This follows an agreement signed with CISSSAT for the management of youth protection for the four Anicinape communities: Kitcisakik, Lac Simon, Abitibiwinni (Pikogan), and Long Point (Winneway). Mino Obigiwasin's vision is to ensure that all Anicinape children and families have a stable, safe, happy living environment rooted in their culture.
JOB SUMMARY
In accordance with Mino Obigiwasin's mission, guidelines, values, and general policies, the incumbent is responsible for providing youth protection services with a view to engaging children, their parents or legal guardians, and community resources in implementing solutions to the difficulties and issues they face.
Under the authority of responsible of point of service and within the framework of the responsibilities assigned to them by the youth protection director (DPJ), the caseworker aims to put an end to situations that compromise the child's development or safety and to prevent them from recurring. In performing their duties and implementing the voluntary measures agreement or order, the incumbent works closely with an interdisciplinary team and in partnership with community resources.
ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES
· Monitor children and adolescents in natural or substitute environments, in accordance with the Youth Protection Act.
· Provide help, advice, and assistance to young people in compromised situations and their families by carrying out psychosocial interventions on an individual, family, or group basis.
· Develop and implement, in collaboration with them, an intervention plan aimed at ending the compromise, based on an assessment of the situation of the child and his family.
· Work closely and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and other partners, including the extended family and community resources, in a context of exchange and complementarity.
· Provide guidance or referrals to appropriate resources and follow up as necessary.
· Submit recommendations to the DPJ on the regime and measures applicable to the situation of young people under supervision.
· Ensure compliance with and enforcement of child protection measures (voluntary or judicial).
· Act as an applicant before the Youth Court when required and testify as needed.
· Participate and contribute actively to various projects, clinical or administrative meetings, and working committees related to your duties.
· Perform administrative tasks related to maintaining physical and computerized files, including writing reports.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's or technical degree in social work, psychoeducation, special education, criminology, delinquency intervention, or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in youth protection intervention.
- Knowledge and experience in the First Nations community is an asset.
Class 5 driver's license.
